Christine Kitano – Who gets the last word? Power Dynamics as Craft Lens (July 2022)

$5.00

Christine Kitano explores how reading a poem or story through the lens of shifting power dynamics can reveal a text’s
deeper internal structures. In discussions of works by Natasha Trethewey, Joy Castro, Fatima Asghar, and others, she
examines binaries as well as hierarchical social structures to gain a better understanding of how a text can reflect,
challenge, or otherwise subvert our expectations of how these categories often function.
